Interesting Orbital configurations for Solar Orbiter (2020)

This post summarizes some configurations involving Solar Orbiter and other s/c, having potential interest for multipoint science and/or cross-calibration.

April 28 - May 1: Radial alignment SolO-Earth. PSP is at nearly same heliocentric distance as SolO. STEREO-A and STEREO-B (not working) are in quadrature with Earth and SolO

May 25: Parker spiral alignment SolO-Earth.  PSP is at nearly at quadrature with SolO. STEREO-A and STEREO-B (not working) are near quadrature with Earth and SolO

June 30: Parker spiral alignment SolO-STEREO-B and PSP-Venus-Earth. (but contact with STEREO-B remains currently lost). Shortly after, on July 9-12, PSP is close to Venus. Both STEREO near quadrature with Earth

August 12: Parker spiral alignment SolO-Mercury and PSP-Earth. (but contact with STEREO-B remains currently lost). Shortly after, on July 9-12, PSP is close to Venus. Both STEREO near quadrature with Earth. STEREO-B near quadrature with SolO.

September 23: Parker spiral alignment PSP-Earth, PSP and SolO near quadrature.

September 27-28: Radial (and later Parker spiral) alignment of PSP and SolO, with PSP near perihelion. PSP moves very fast  and alignments are short.

December 1: Parker spiral alignment SolO-Mercury

December 25-29: SolO encounter with Venus
